The recently concluded Jamboree-On-The-Air (JOTA) and Jamboree-On-The-Internet (JOTI) 2026 highlighted cooperation, unity, and technological innovation among participating New Era University (NEU) branches. Through their respective activities, the NEU Main Campus, Pampanga Branch, and Lipa City Branch demonstrated how amateur radio and modern internet communication technologies can connect young people, promote learning, and strengthen the global scouting movement.
A key part of the celebration was exploring amateur radio technology and its vital role in communication, education, and emergency preparedness. Participants learned radio communication principles and operating procedures, and they experienced the practical applications of different radio frequency bands, particularly Very High Frequency (VHF) and High Frequency (HF). VHF communications are commonly used for local and regional contacts, while HF communications can facilitate long-distance communication across provinces, countries, and even continents, depending on propagation conditions.
The event also highlighted the integration of traditional radio systems with internet-based communication platforms. Through technologies such as EchoLink, Digital Mobile Radio (DMR), and AllStarLink, the scouts gained experience establishing communications through linked repeaters, digital networks, and interconnected radio systems. Together with internet communication, they demonstrated how conventional radio technology continues to evolve alongside modern digital systems. More importantly, the scouts saw how these technologies can support information sharing, coordination, and community assistance, especially when conventional communication infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
The NEU branches' cooperative participation reflected a shared commitment to youth development, technical education, and community service. By embracing both traditional and emerging communication technologies, the branches helped promote curiosity, teamwork, and practical learning among young people. The activity also emphasized responsible radio operation, digital communication awareness, and emergency preparedness.
Beyond the technical demonstrations and communication activities, the participating branches' successful collaboration underscored the value of institutional unity in achieving shared educational objectives. JOTA-JOTI provided a meaningful opportunity for scouts, volunteers, and amateur radio enthusiasts to exchange knowledge, build friendships, and experience how communication technology can overcome geographical barriers.
Congratulations to all participating New Era University branches, organizers, volunteers, amateur radio operators, and scouts for their cooperation and contributions to JOTA-JOTI 2026. Their collective efforts demonstrated that combining amateur radio, VHF and HF communications, EchoLink, DMR, AllStarLink, and internet-based technologies can create valuable learning experiences while strengthening the spirit of global friendship, emergency preparedness, and community service.
