DU LAND (Philippines)
Sa amateur radio world, tinatawag minsan ang Pilipinas na “DU Land” dahil sa amateur radio call sign prefix ng bansa.
Bakit “DU Land”?
Ang mga amateur radio station sa Pilipinas ay KARANIWANG gumagamit ng prefixes na DU, DV, DW, DX, DY, DZ, at iba pa.
Ang “DU” ang isa sa pinakauna at pinakakilalang Philippine amateur radio prefixes.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) grants global blocks of country call sign prefixes for amateur radio and all other radio services.
Examples:
* DU1ABC – National Capital Region (NCR) at sa Southern Tagalog Region (CALABARZON at MIMAROPA)
* DU2ABC – ibang call area sa Luzon (Ilocos Region at CAR)
* DU3ABC - area ng Central Luzon
* DU4ABC - Bicol Region

Sa ham radio community, may mga bansang nagkakaroon ng informal nicknames based sa kanilang callsign prefix. Kaya ang:
Philippines = “DU Land” ay parang shorthand o affectionate nickname ng international amateur radio community para sa Pilipinas.
Ang “DU” ay particularly recognizable dahil maraming Filipino hams ang gumagamit nito, kaya maririnig mo ang expressions gaya ng: “73 from DU Land!” o kaya naman ay “Greetings from DU Land, the Philippines!”
