⦿ Catching an ISS Crew Mid-Air

Another exciting event was witnessed by our associates this afternoon, as they successfully listened to an astronaut answering questions from students in Japan.

On May 12, 2026, at 5:28 PM, when they observed the ARISS space activity where one of their astronauts, Sophie Adenot, answered questions. Using the callsign OR4ISS, she contacted the station JR5YED, which served as the ground station for direct contact to answer questions from students of Tobe Junior High School in Tobe, Japan. This was a unique event they witnessed since they started tracking satellites. The activity was led by brother Lance Jeandrei Aves, 4G1IZR, and sister Lorraine Kate Aves, who prepared the communication equipment for the event. Also present during the listening were brothers Tristan Garcia 4H1JFY, Marco Banzal, Mark Angelo Morden, and Jocenth Rodrigo. [Images, CTTO]
