⦿ SCAN International DX7EVM IOTA Contest Team did it again!
At the height of the tropical cyclone update by PAG-ASA on July 27, 2025, the agency was monitoring tropical depressions and severe tropical storms outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), our DX7EVM Team did not give up hope of joining the IOTA Contest.
IOTA, or the "island on the air" ham radio contest, formally known as the RSGB IOTA Contest, is an annual major international amateur radio event managed by the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) since 1985. It is where participants operate from islands to make contact with other islands. It groups islands into 1200 groups, each with a unique IOTA reference number.
The contest promotes operating from diverse island locations. Participants send signal reports and serial numbers, and exchange them. Stations on islands also provide their unique IOTA reference number. The contest runs for 24 hours and uses specific bands such as 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m on both CW and phone modes. Participants compete within different categories based on their operator type, power level, and whether they are operating from an island or the mainland, with prizes and certificates awarded at the continental and category levels.
The 2025 IOTA Contest was participated in by the SCAN International DX7EVM Team, consisting of Omar Dumaguing, DU7OK; Ruel Icoy, DU7LEG; Arwin Gabriel, 4G7GAS; Benjun Butaslac, DW7FJO; Ali Gonzalve, DW7FBH; and Jupiter Bantilan, DW7FJW.
